Update on the Impact of the Red Sea Crisis on Shipping

You may have seen in the news recently that pro-Hamas Houthi rebels in Yemen have been attacking ships linked to or heading to Israel. The Houthis, responding to the Gaza war, have escalated attacks, targeting commercial vessels as well as impacting East-West trade routes especially for oil.

The escalating security crisis in the Red Sea region has prompted major shipping lines to pause operations or to reroute their vessels away from the Suez Canal using an alternative route. Many carriers are now routing their services around Africa’s Cape of Good Hope.

We are experienced in all aspects of shipping including dealing with unexpected changes and delays. The issues in the Red Sea are leading to at least another 10 days on average on voyage times. Because of this, Asia-North Europe freight rates are also predicted to soar.

We are keeping a close eye on the situation in order to stay one step ahead, and feel it is important that we keep our clients informed and updated with any information we can provide on their shipments.
